National Assisted Living New Orleans Week kicks off on Sunday, September 8, 2013 (Grandparent’s Day). The week will feature special events based around the theme “Homemade Happiness.” Come join us for any and all of the following events!!
Kids Say the Darnedest Things featuring resident grand and great grandchildren, Sunday, September 8, 4:00pm “Most Grandchildren” award given.
Hometown Heroes featuring resident WW2 veterans, celebration ceremony on Monday, September 9, 2:00pm. Plum Street Snoballs will be on hand with treats for everyone!
Handmade Masterpieces Open House Tuesday, September 10, from 2-4pm, come enjoy displays throughout the house of handmade clothing, Mardi Gras costumes, quilts, hats and art.
Homespun Humor, Wednesday, September 11, 10:00am featuring storyteller and cartoonist Joe McKeever, with homemade ice cream for all.
All things Wood, a display of handmade toys, furniture, and carvings, with woodworking demonstration by Bayou Woodturners, Thursday, September 12, 10:00am. Then at 7:00pm, concert by Bernie and the Addisons.
Homemade Taste!! Friday, September 13, will be a day full of delicious homemade tastes, featuring 10:00am jam-making, 3:00 Homemade cookie contest featuring residents family recipes with esteemed judge Chef Frank Brigtsen, and 4:00 happy hour with homemade Cajun Cherry Bounce and homemade snacks.
All events are free and open to the public. We believe home is truly where the heart is, and we are looking forward to highlighting our residents, their families, and the beauty they bring to our home!
